General Overview of the Department of Cosmetology

DEPARTMENT OF COSMETOLOGY

The Department of Cosmetology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Hacettepe University, was established in 1993 under the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, in accordance with the relevant articles of Higher Education Law No. 2547. Since its establishment in 1993, education in the Department of Cosmetology has been carried out at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The purpose of establishing the Department of Cosmetology is to enable pharmacists—who are experts in medicinal drugs—to receive undergraduate and graduate education supplemented by courses in cosmetology, and subsequently to serve in industry or in community pharmacy. Since cosmetology is an interdisciplinary field, the Cosmetology Master's Programs encompass not only pharmacists but also medical doctors, chemical engineers, chemistry graduates, and biologists who may serve in this field.
