DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACY MANAGEMENT
General Information
The Department is established in 1991 as Pharmacy Management and Legislation and is named in 1993 Department of Pharmacy Management by Prof. Dr. İsmail Üstel. The Department organized a training program on the basis the fact of pharmacy profession as a social profession. There is 1 assistant professor and 3 research assistant in the Department.
The scientific studies are continued in the scope of social pharmacy and pharmacy practices (community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, phamaceutical industry, medication management and drug policy). The main research areas are:
- Pharmacoeconomy,
- Pharmacoepidemiolgy,
- pharmacoantropology,
- Pharmacoethics,
- Pharmaceutical marketing,
- Pharmaceutical logistics,
- Drug pricing and reimbursement ,
- Patent,
- Communication between patient and pharmacist,
- Rational drug use,
- Drug compliance,
- Preventing drug abuse,
- History of pharmacy,
- Work environment and psychology (Job satisfaction, burnout, work-family conflict),
- Pharmacy education.
Ongoing studies within the department’s graduate programs are continued in the specified topics. Occupational profiles of graduates are governmental institutions like Ministry of Health, Social Security Institution, several positions in private sector, community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy and academy.
The researches in the department are in the scope of key words “Pharmacy administration, Pharmacy services, Pharmacists,Pharmaceutical economics, Pharmacoepidemiology, Technology assessment, Health promotion, Smoking, Internet, Marketing of health services, Disaster medicine, Industrial psychology, Pharmacy ethics, Communication, History of medicine” in MeSH.
The Department of Pharmacy Management is aware of the importance of ethical rules for bringing innovations. The researchers’ knowledge level of current issues in the professional image is increased and relationships with other disciplines are improved. The conducting lectures in the Department are prepared with these knowledge.
