The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy was established in 1969. Since then, it has become a leading academic unit in Türkiye, contributing significantly to the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences through research and education in drug formulation, manufacturing technologies, quality control, and dosage form development.
The Department offers comprehensive education at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Its Master’s and Ph.D. programs, launched in 1973, are among the most well-established postgraduate programs in the field in Türkiye. In line with growing interest and sectoral demands, a non-thesis Master’s program was also introduced in 2007.
With a strong research focus, the Department has developed expertise in modern drug delivery systems, controlled release technologies, bioavailability and bioequivalence studies, nanotechnology-based formulations, and 3D printing in pharmaceutical production. Cutting-edge approaches such as virtual bioequivalence, Quality by Design (QbD), and advanced analytical techniques are actively integrated into research and training activities.
The Department maintains strong collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry through joint research projects and consultancy services, enhancing the link between academia and industry. It has also played a key role in training faculty members who now serve at various universities across Türkiye, contributing to the development of national scientific capacity.
